Dems vote not to pay military and essential employees
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5569...-shutdown/

Brilliant move by the Republicans and really hard for the Democrats to explain.

Agreed. The fact that Ossoff and Warnock both broke ranks tells you this vote was brutal for Team Blue.

GOP needs to bring this same issue back to the table as often as possible.

This should be used by my Republican Party in every single Senate-related campaign ad next year. Shout this from sea to shining sea for every ear that will hear.

RE: Dems vote not to pay military and essential employees
It is always hard to lose and admit you are on the losing side. Dem's have controlled the system no matter who is prez for a very long time, They don't know how to be out of power. Usually a shut down happens so the minority can bring an issue to the front burner, They last a few days to maybe week, and then you open things up. The 2 exceptions have been Dems with Trump in office, they think they should still be running the show. So they will burn the place down over what is a minor issue in the scheme of things.

Meanwhile dem voters are being told it's the fault of the GOP, and they believe it.

Some do, some don’t. I promise you that Ossoff — whose seat is up in 12 months — has a very sophisticated polling operation here in GA and if he thought the Dems. were on solid ground here, he would never dream of going against his party leadership.

But see, that's the thing. Ossoff is only voting for it because he's running for reelection. Hopefully, your fellow Georgians will see through that.

TB4E: It should definitely be one of our "war cries" heading into the midterms. No doubt about that.

Dems leaders are counting on followers to be ignorant of the entire situation. It usually works.

True. If Ossoff were left to his own devices, he would vote 100% Progressive/Left on 100% of the issues, 100% of the time.

But I mentioned him (and Warnock) because if their own D. voters in Georgia were unified in accepting the Dems’ narratives about the shutdown, they would’ve voted with Schumer yesterday on this payment bill. The fact that they didn’t is evidence (to me, LOL) that they know that isn’t the case.

Georgia has a huge Army Training Facility (Fort Benning) - lots of people living and attached to there.

Interesting. I live about 20 miles northwest of Fort Benning, and across the river. We're practically neighbors. :)

Lots of military bases in GA. Fort Stewart is larger in area than Benning.

Yes and it shows he has no influence on his party. Kind of useless.

Actually, they gave him authorization to vote for it. They knew it wouldn't get 60 votes.
