Actually, they gave him authorization to vote for it. They knew it wouldn't get 60 votes.
I don’t doubt that is true, but the fact that Ossoff (and Warnock) both felt constrained to vote against the party leadership still shows that they recognize the Democrats’ narrative is not working with Georgia voters — at least, not enough of them. And that is the point I was originally making here.

Well according to Katherine Clark, Americans suffering is their only leverage.

I'm sure the people not getting paid appreciate being used as leverage for a Democrat temper tantrum

The Federal Workers are starting to figure it out. My wife is a Fed Employee and she came home pissed at the Democrats in the Senate because "they voted against paying us today". I told her, "yep, they don't give a pshit about you are anyone else, only power".

AI search:

Quote:Yes, retired postal workers will continue to receive their pensions during a government shutdown, as their payments come from a fund that is separate from annual appropriations and their pensions are paid by the U.S. Postal Service, which is self-funded. Federal retirees under the CSRS and FERS systems will still get their scheduled monthly annuity payments, though the processing of new retirements may experience delays.
