Basically, it should only be taken during a high fever anyways. They also stated if the patient has a high fever there is a reason and that reason should be treated. Low grade fevers are the body's natural way of fighting infection. No Tylenol should be taken then. If the doctor says, "take it anytime you want", then the consequences are on the doctor.

Trump literally said "Don't take it", though.

I'd like to see these studies, because correlation doesn't always mean causation. If the science is there, then fine. But right now I have a hard time believing acetaminophen causes autism.

IMO, it seems like the reason why we're seeing higher rates of autism now is because we're better at recognizing and diagnosing it than we were 30 or 50 years ago.

It is a reason, but not the only reason according to my recollection.

If the announcement came from a Dem, the reaction to it would not result in hostility. The Dem's would rather completely ignore the finding and risk harming children than admit its seriousness and be forced to acknowledge the source. Their hate is that intense. Shameful....

Good job, 3A. If I were a doctor, I'd give you a lollipop for being such a good patient. lol

I admit that was funnier in my head, but of course, it went over like a lead balloon. lol Anyway, this is one case that I'm not taking at face value because I don't have enough evidence in front of me to make a discernment one way or the other. I am, like I said above, inclined to believe the administration's findings because of Big Pharma's stranglehold on a huge portion of the medical industry, but I at least need more evidence supporting their findings. That's it.

The fact some people are making this about politics is just sicken because it's something that a lot of future families will have to deal with. BTW there are very limited, next to none, government resources being spent on Autism.

Play f'ing politics, there's a very good chance at some point it will touch most families. Then we will see if playing politics matters. It wont!

Thirty years ago, it was routine to give kids Tylenol and Advil for mild fever. Now it is not advisable for my grandson. Has the science changed or common sense applied??

No, we'd be making fun of him. Then we'd grab the pitchforks. Gotta bail that hay somehow.

Didn't expect me to go in that direction, did you, folks? 03-lmfao04-cheers

WKUYG: That's why I'm remaining somewhat skeptical despite my wanting to believe the administration on this. I need more evidence supporting its findings.

Untreated high fever also has consequences for the baby, so it’s important to get this right. This isn’t like them suggesting to change dieting or removing food coloring. There is a potential cost to not getting this right.

I’m not even saying he’s 100% wrong here. But I also don’t blame people for pushing back or demanding evidence versus saying generic stuff like “don’t take it, it’s bad,” or “we don’t see many 70 year olds with autism”
If a pregnant woman has a high fever, they should immediately go to their doctor and be put on an anti-biotic. All the administration is saying, is they are finding evidence Tylenol could have an effect on Autism for pregnant women. And yes, if a patient doesn't "NEED" to Tylenol, then don't. NSAIDs are bad drugs, and they have become something people don't even think twice about taking. Endocrinologists have made a fortune off of them. Dialysis centers are popping up everywhere. This is NOT a political issue the Left and the media want you to think it is. They haven't outlawed it. I took Viox after I had my vasectomy. Two years later it was removed from the market because it was found to have killed a dozen people or so. Tylenol kills thousands of people every year due to Kidney failure. Bigger lobby keeps it on the market.

Here's an interview with a researcher who is taking it seriously and looking into it, so I do think this is something that needs to be seriously researched further, but just saying take NSAID's is dumb dumb stuff.

Dude, don't rell me what to Google. Do your own research.

All I did was ask the question, word for word, posed directly above my response: "What should I use to substitute Tylenol?"

3A looks down. Maybe. About 2 months or so... 03-lmfao

Does your grandson have some special condition? I don't see anything saying those medications are not advisable for kids. And they both have kids versions as well.

There are several nights in which a person's temperature gets elevated while sleeping to fight off infections. Low grade fever is the body's natural way of doing it. Wasn't that long ago the skin was seen by doctors as a "barrier". Now it is a way of administering medicine. So, the answer to your question is a little of both. People that have lived to 100+ didn't take anything.

The medical field is mostly used car salesmen with a degree. Yet, so many people look to doctors like they are the end all/be all. I've known a number of doctors personally and I don't trust them any more than I would trust a drunk lawyer that went to Rice.

The literal name of this thread Trump: Avoid Tylenol If Pregnant....Autism Link

The only valid question for this thread topic would be what pain reliever/fever reducer is safe for a pregnant woman, and the only answer currently is Tylenol. NSAIDs are not recommended, especially after 20 weeks as they can cause severe kidney issues for the baby. So if Tylenol becomes a no-no then pregnant women have no option other than to thug it out, which is dangerous as hell in terms of fever.

Tylenol is not an NSAID. It's a completely different class. NSAID's are ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) and naproxen (Aleve).
