I think the time out was a mistake with our offense scheme. If we could pass downfield, then the time out would make sense.

Avoid giving up the big plays on defense and this entire discussion is moot.

Looks like our coach is not the only one to make questionable choices late in a half:

He looked good two years ago when he played in relief of JT Daniels. Heck, he almost put us in position to beat SMU. I think that he will be fine. UH has a very good defense and if you listened to the Roost, we can't discount that UH's head coach Willie Fritz has familiarity with the offense we are running.

Yeah, he was electric against smu. So far this year he has been a big disappointment, but hopefully he can get reconnoitered against PV.

Same with Major Applewhite.

It’s time for an #HTownTakeover-Takeover!

You were focused on “We thought of it first”. And then used a slogan that UH had first. I thought it was ironic. And UH got the best out of Herman. Applewhite, we would probably like to forget those seasons.

Well, we've never had to use the "Academic Cornerstone" slogan because it is already understood. And perhaps UH's ability to recruit whoever they want for athletics was instrumental in Herman's success there. Rice can't do that, so we have to focus on unique systems that will fit the student-athlete we're able to recruit. I think we have finally done that this year in football, but we are not naive and thus realize it will take awhile for the system to take hold. Hopefully Rice will pull off the upset on Saturday, but there is a reason UH is a double-digit favorite. Best of luck to both teams!

Well, Herman won with Tony Levine’s recruits. He was just a better coach. Be safe and good luck on Saturday.

That's great that Herman won with Tony Levine's recruits, but that doesn't contradict the fact that UH can recruit whoever they want. But I agree, here's to a safe, injury free game Saturday.
As a large public university and member of the Big 12, UH follows NCAA eligibility rules (GPA, test scores, core courses, etc.) and the admissions standards set for athletes. They can't let just "whoever they want." Is the bar higher at Rice for their athletes? Sure, but Rice (Athletic Department Academic Advising) also invests heavily in tutoring and support to help their student athlete's academics too.

He really didnt have much time to pass since the line looked weak for pass protection but not surprised since the run is the highest priority. I would guess pass protection would be worked on in the future and passing routes.

Anyone watching UH dominate Colorado in the first quarter? No clue how good/bad CU actually is. But again...maybe that loss last week looks better as the season goes on.

Not watching the game but tracking it. Colorado with TD in 2Q and it’s now just a 2 point cougar lead at the half

UH held Colorado to 20 and won an impressive game 36-20. They're now 3-0. Connors with about 90 yards. Connors fits in perfect for Houston.

Colorado looked lost. Wonder how many games they will win this year.

Colorado doesn't look like they have a QB that can pass. Coogs have a top 5 defense in total defense in the league.
Not sure if you saw the whole game but Willie Fritz used an offense that incorporates triple-option principles against Colorado in a few plays.

Colorado put up a great fight against Georgia Tech. They're a decent team. Georgia Tech beat a #12 Georgia team today. Houston is a legit team. If Houston beats Oregon St next week, they will be 4-0.

True, but I have ALWAYS said not to give UH any extra snaps. I knew when we did that, it was a mistake... but mistakes happen. Coach probably got excited... can't blame him. the scene was pretty electric at that point.

Unfortunely the passing side of this offense is well behind the running... so he should have taken the minutes off the clock/let them run them out because there was really almost zero chance that we would put up points.

They had the ball, at least two more snaps and have a much more 'big play' offense than we do. The odds of them scoring were a large multiple of the odds we would score.

Georgia Tech beat Clemson, not Georgia.

Interestingly, both UH and Georgia Tech feature former Aggies at QB.
