RE: UAC Football Week 1
We really must beat SFA or gloom and dome will preside until basketball starts. Losing this past week was a bit of a shock compared to how we played last year, but maybe the wake up call has been heard. How could we deliver two 95+ yard drives right off the bat and not score? Some of us are still puzzled. So, we are expecting a far stronger game this weekend. As for the Southland Conference... please don't say that. We will do better in the future. We borrowed the UT Longhorns' post-game analysis last Saturday but now we have a better script.

I would be glad to trade you opponents. We will route Mississippi Valley State bus to Abilene and send SFA to Stephenville so we can kick the snot out of them!

What'd they do? It just said desecrated. What was described seemed like a celebration by young men after a big moment.

Obviously, the author did not have a clue about sacredness or desecration. This strikes me as understandable jubilation for a hard-earned triumph. Way to go, Texans!

Mainly it involved dancing on the Army logo in the locker room.

It was a little more than dancing on the logo, but I get where young players don't think about the meaning or consequences of their actions even if it was a symbolic gesture. Players need to always respect their opponents, win or lose. It's not a lesson they often know or learn today regardless of where they attend or play. I chalk it to poor adolescent judgment, not on Tarleton.

I'm not sweating that. I don't know what "a little more than dancing on the logo" means, but unless they took their pants off to rub their butts or privates on it or made a lewd gestures while dancing, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Wow! Just watched the video. What I saw did not look like dancing. I would say it's disrespectfully and worse, crass. You were playing one of the US Military Academies. The respect and pride you should show is a time honored tradition at all the academies, shown when the opposing team goes to the sideline for the academy alma mater. Of course you should celebrate a victory, however, besides respecting your opponent you should respect yourself and your team, this was not it!

No nudity, but there was definitely lewd gestures made on top of the Army logo...

Exactly, this isn't just another school. Any school should receive respect, and shouldn't have had this happen. A military institution is at an even higher level of respect. Again, I think a lot of young athletes would fall for this, not just athletes at Tarleton. I address it more as a wider issue of young athletes not having any sense of what you just describe. Worse, I think in today's world of rotating athletes, many don't get the chance of getting taught that through consistent years at any one place, or any one person(s).

I will not defend the actions of the young men in the video, but FWIW.
At the end of all Army home football games, the Black Knights, win or lose, proceed to the north end zone where their fellow cadets sit and sing their school song as a group.
The Tarleton players stood behind the Black Knights for the duration of the song. Tarleton then shook the hands of every Army player and thanked them for their current and future service to our great country.

That's good to know and it wouldn't be good for the actions of a couple to ruin it for the whole group.
