-No NATO admittance
-No Western troops in Ukraine
-Hand over all of Donbas

Ukraine can't agree to this. They would give up their heavily fortified defensive network in the portion of Donetsk that Ukraine still holds. Without any concrete security guarantees, it would leave them vulnerable to another Russian invasion in the future.

Might as well give up on peace and go all in on WW3 if Ukraine is going to be in nato. Putin will never agree to that in any circumstance.

We also made agreements long ago never to allow that.

If they can't find another option outside of that one, there is no hope.

There is a reasonable solution that fits in the box. Putin simply has not been given any reason to accept anything less than he thinks he can get on the battlefield--especially when Trump was cutting off the American weapons supply to Ukraine (at that point Putin probably could not believe his good fortune).

If we want Putin to be reasonable---if we want a peace deal sooner than later---announce the SALE of 1 million 155mm artillery shells to Ukraine to be delivered in 2025. Its not escalatory---as its a weapon system they have had for years---but suddenly ending the Ukrainian chronic shortage of artillery ammo would be a battlefield game changer. The other thing I'd do is quietly help Ukraine eliminate any bottle necks limiting the production of their own long range drones---as well as their long range domestically produced Neptune and Flamingo missiles. Dont announce that---just do it. As the Ukrainians quickly ramp up their ability to effectively hit and severely damage more and more refineries (there are already gas shortages in much of occupied Ukraine---and that has begun to spread to several oblasts INSIDE of Russia), Putin's interest in a quick and reasonable negotiated peace settlement will suddenly blossom. 04-cheers

I agree. Really simple. Why are we not doing it?

What do you want him to do? Bomb the Kremlin? Trump posted a pretty serious warning today which is 3 posts above here.

Yes I’ve already seen it. I was scrolling though. It really doesn’t matter that Trump said this. The Ukrainians have developed their own long range drones and are coming on line with a much more powerful missile now. They have been hitting deep inside Russia for a while now.
I’ll remind you though that for some reason Trump has said a lot that he hasn’t backed up. We should be months into sanctions now but there’s no more talk about them.
Look I love Trumps actions so far on just about everything but this one thing. And I may be completely wrong about what he’s doing for reasons we don’t know. But Putin does appear to be jerking Trump around.

To what I bolded above, are you speaking to this specific situation, or to things in general? B/c if you mean in general, that's a laughable statement.

But if you mean specific to Ukraine, which I think you do, that's arguable, and certainly not anything to ding him for yet. IMO, that comment is important, b/c they just met last Friday, then he met with the others Monday, and now on Thursday he has busted Putin for screwing around already.

Now if you're pissed b/c Trump didn't act a few months ago, he's been kinda busy. Like busiest in history. I would much rather have him solving our problems first, then this one.

And I'm still wondering why WE have to solve this at all, and why the Euro weenies have stayed in the background. This is THEIR problem first, so I have no issue with Trump just now getting around to it, unless you can explain why doing this in May or June would have had a more positive impact on our lives.

I am speaking specifically of this war. Nothing else. Trump spoke very early about tough sanctions on Russia. Then after hesitating Congress took it up. Then he said Congress would have to deal with it. They did nothing and then he says that he will put sanctions on Russia in 50 days or whatever it was. Then he changed it to 10 days or a week. Then Putin said he would meet with Trump in a couple of weeks. Then they met and still no sanctions after Putin has shot 500 drones and 100 missiles into Ukraine last night hitting a US factory on top of that. And Lavrov is poking fun at Trump even now after the so called great meeting in Alaska. It appears that meeting got exactly what Putin wanted. To make Trump look like he was ineffective and lied about a great meeting while it gained him more time. Trump has got to realize who he is dealing with. Putin is playing Trump and for some reason Trump is not doing anything serious.
Like I have said several times before, there may be some reason that none of us know about.
Russia is in serious economic trouble. It won’t take much to push them over the edge. If Putin keeps this military strategy of losing 1000 men a day and getting basically nowhere going for another few months he will be deeper into the no turning back hole. And his populace will begin to rumble regardless of his Soviet style crack down. Especially if the strikes inside Russia increase.

Just my view of course. 04-cheers

If I have to explain to you why Ukraine needs help you are beyond any help. You seem to think poor ole Putin just had to start an all out war with his pretty defenseless neighbor because he had no choice. Mean ole Ukraine booted his puppet and elected a globohomo to soil all of the Russian speakers values. Who have most all had their homes and villages destroyed in eastern Ukraine BTW.

Speaking of utter nonsense.

I’ll quote Rush here;
The world is run by the aggressive use of force.
No war is over until someone loses.

This is why I believe we should be helping and why Trump should be giving the Ukrainians all the help they need to evict the Russians or have them begging for peace. And if the Russians win, then they can start their preparations for the Baltics.

WSME, I have a personal question you can choose to answer or not, of course. but I'm genuinely curious.

Why are you so passionate about this subject? I don't see another person on this board quite invested in the subject like you are. I can barely hold my eyes open reading some of this. All that stuff you answered to me above, I didn't know and didn't care, b/c I haven't really been keeping up with it that closely.

I'm WAY more invested in what is happening domestically.

But that's okay. We're never going to agree on everything. I'm just curious as to why this holds your passion so deeply. 04-cheers

I’ve already answered several times. I just find it fascinating. I do pay a lot of attention to podcasts and media propaganda from both. Why would that be of such great interest? It’s not at all like this topic is the only topic I post on. And sorry to disappoint but I’m not married to a Ukrainian woman. My wife is a good ole southern sorority girl and past president of Tri-delta. Which she is very proud of.

But this did at the beginning have the potential to get out of hand and involve us. Regardless of how much Sure Karen screeeeeed, “not our problem”. The chances of that have been rolled back thankfully by the Ukrainians that have fought like no one thought they could. Those people don’t want to live under Russian rule.
I do not believe that Trump can force peace on the two sides. This type of behavior is central to who Putin is and he will not give it up. He may make a settlement but he will not abide by it once he feels he can take advantage again.

To circle back a little, that Todor character was a Russian troll. I’m sure of it. He (actually several people posting under his name) was a pure bullchit artist constantly propping up Putin with ridiculous claims of greatness. Kinda like Sure Karen does. Just kidding. Don’t ruffle your shorts. I guess that was the beginning of me getting interested in this to the level I am.

Now does that suffice for an explanation?

Yes, thanks. Sorry it pissed you off. Believe it or not, I haven't read the gazillion posts on this subject over the months.

But it's pretty obvious that you and SK provide the lion's share, and you even more so.

And yes, I also thought Todor was a Russian troll. I engaged him several times inquiring about his background, and he ignored me enough times that I got my likely answer.

I've wondered the same thing and the only thing I can think of is, it's somewhat personal to him or something in that ballpark.

:lmfao:it seems anyone with more than a moronic one liner must have something wrong with him03-lmfao

Good grief, what’s wrong with you people. 04-cheers
Got to agree with you. Seems like they just can't understand a conservative could disagree with them. Nothing unusual about your posting.

Well, you swung and missed on me. I'm not even a conservative. I just act like one on this board, b/c the Dems have moved over into political hell. I'm a benign, politically agnostic independent. I hate both parties, I wish they would die, and I "side" with people by issue, not by party.

I don't give a rat's ass if you're a conservative, a lib, a D, an R, or a pink puppy dog.

That used to make me an independent back when the Dems were semi-sane and gave me choices on various issues, but no longer. At least for now. The freaking Dems have gone completely mad.

Furthermore, I don't give a damn if everybody on this board agrees with me or disagrees with me. None of you (other than the few I know personally, either in real life, or through long time PMs on many subjects) are real people, so you have no effect on me. At all.

Hell, I have very little interest in this particular subject. I was just curious about WSME's passion on it. Plain and simple. I can see it simply by how many damn posts he makes on it, lol. I didn't say there was anything unusual about what he posts, just that he obviosyusly is passionate about it b/c he posts so much.

And count all the posts I've ever made on this subject. Not many at all. So I don't keep up with it. Geez, there have been thousands of posts about Russia and Ukraine and the US. I mostly find it boring.

Plus, I can't disagree with anyone about this, b/c I really don't have much of an opinion, other than Putin is the bad guy, so that actually agrees with WSME, I think, lol.

So, bottom line, you suck at psychoanalysis. 03-lmfao

RE: Trump-Zelenskyy Summit Part II: European Union Boogaloo.
I would like to add that I appreciate GC actually knowing how to spell Zelenskyy correctly.

So, here are my 3 opinions on the subject:

1. I appreciate correct spelling of tough words.
2. Putin is bad.
3. I think WSME posts a lot on this subject. But he is free to do so. I just wondered why. Sorry I asked, lol. And no, I didn't wonder if he was married to a Ukranian, and furthermore, I don't give a crap. He could be married to a transgender camel, as far as I'm concerned. Not my business.

I’m not pissed. What gave you that idea?

Because I don't know you at all, you started by saying you've already answered it several times, you said sorry to disappoint when I never mentioned anything about a Ukranian wife, your first ending was a bit less than friendly, and you finished with a second post saying this:

Quote:it seems anyone with more than a moronic one liner must have something wrong with him

Good grief, what’s wrong with you people.

If you're not pissed, fine, but I think it was a reasonable take, considering your comments.

My inquiry was nothing more than trying to understand why you were so passionate about this subject. No harm meant.

Different strokes and all that, but to me, this subject is boring as hell.
