We are with hundreds of federal agents and military as a massive federal immigration enforcement operation is underway in the MacArthur Park area of the sanctuary city of Los Angeles, an area with heavy MS-13 influence. Mayor Bass has demanded raids stop, Feds respond with one of the largest yet, including Border Patrol agents on horseback. Protesters already showing up.

At long last, this got the attention of Mayor Bass, who arrived on the scene and again demanded immigration enforcement agents leave:

Bass is also claiming that kids were playing at the park just minutes before the agents arrived, a claim that was disputed by Blaze immigration reporter Julio Rosas:

Per the AP, the National Guard reportedly is also there to protect the federal agents:

The operation in the large park about 2 miles west of downtown LA included 17 Humvees, four tactical vehicles, two ambulances and the armed soldiers, defense officials said. It came after President Donald Trump deployed thousands of Guard members and active duty Marines to the city last month following protests over previous immigration raids.

As of this writing, there are no reports on whether there have been any arrests so far. Stay tuned.

This is the kind of backlash that was so easy to see coming, yet Democrats just can't help themselves. Originally, ICE was focusing its efforts on coordinating with local law enforcement to see immigration retainers honored. Sanctuary cities like Los Angeles refuse to cooperate, though. That means federal authorities now have to go into communities and conduct on-site raids, and the moment politicians like Bass started crying foul, it was a foregone conclusion that Border Czar Tom Homan and company would only turn up the heat further.

If Democrats just stopped trying to obstruct the enforcement of immigration law, fewer of these large raids would be necessary. In other words, Bass and other left-wing officials are creating the very environment they decry. Even still, it's astonishing to see them go to bat for violent criminals. Does Bass want more rapes and murders in Los Angeles? If she doesn't, she should be helping federal immigration authorities, not grandstanding for the cameras and screaming at them for doing their jobs. They are making the city and the country safer, whether Bass likes it or not.

Best thing is that a successful 1983 action carries attorneys fees. Or a few others that provisions that carry attorneys fees when successfully moving forth a violation of Constitutional rights.

The key word here is “successful”. And none of the §1983 complaints will be successful until Roberts &co weigh in. It will take an extreme fact pattern to prevail with the current nine. We’ll see what happens, but for now I’m very skeptical.

Bongino is a different person, not with Border Patrol. I expect an attorney to be precise and not make such sloppy errors.

I expect LE across levels to understand the concepts of probable cause, and reasonable articulable suspicion in the first place -- and more so in the specific instance when they decide to opine in the manner he did so.
