Petey was probably loaded.

Clearly he isn't the one who started it.

It was probably one of his staffers who included the reporter in the group chat. That's just my guess.

What concerns me is why did a staffer have an anti Trump contact in his phone. To me it is obvious this person was leaking to this reporter. The left soliciting espionage. This is criminal. Same old bs with Progressive scumbags.

There were only 2 staffers involved in this call, per Waltz yesterday. Neither has Goldberg in his phone. There is an investigation underway to discover what happened.

Also, when on that app, you cannot see names, only initials, and Goldberg has the same initials (JG) as a panel member who it turned out was missing from the call.

So the participants thought "JG" was legit.

The screenshots prove that isn't true. Pete Hegseth is fully spelled out.

My unclass gov phone is controlled by my IT including all applications, messaging apps, etc on the phone. Signal doesn't require a password but you can require a pin to be used to access and of course someone would have to physically have access to the gov phone and be able to get into it, which is nearly impossible. You're not getting Signal messages remotely. The encryption is beyond even what the best AI can crack right now. FBI has had an immense amount of ass pain just trying to decrypt iphone passcodes which insanely difficult and orders of magnitude easier than decrypting Signal messages.

I've seen the messages. I don't think anything in there was TS much less compartmented. That's nothing but an attempt to make them look bad. But they definitely teetered the line on S/NF. And POTUS acknowledge it was a screw up and that they'll not make the same mistake again. It's amazing that when you're winning everyday the smallest of missteps becomes the only news story.

This should shut down any further idiocy about Signal. I discovered from testimony yesterday that criticism was just a smokescreen.

And I said that by listening to testimony yesterday. Under oath from NSA officials.

Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer?

I don’t think so. I mean I don’t have my ex wife in my phone, or my ex boss who I served as a whistleblower against. This has to be chased down and explained. Imo

You realize there is a formal investigation underway to determine exactly that, right? Per Waltz yesterday.

You see whatever name they have configured as their name, on the top of their messages and in the membership list.

Screenshots are here from Atlantic which show this. Not sure if JG has said what he has his name set to. Since he didn’t post it would only be visible in membership list.

When creating a new group you get an alphabetical list of contacts, and you tap a radio button next to their name to include them. You see the name from your contact list.

Participants were spread around the world at the time. Per testimony, Signal was approved for that type usage.

If there is a problem with Signal (I think there is), the issue is developing a suitable replacement, rather than not allowing the participants to communicate. As per info yesterday, the admin is now working on developing a better communication system.

IMO, the mistake was not using Signal, since no reasonable alternative has been identified, but instead, it was allowing a reporter into the chat.

THAT was a mistake (or deliberate sabotage) that requires an investigation.

As for whether that info should have been classified, there is no target identified, and no timing identified, per a general's testimony today.

Agreed. Now Signal may not be a good platform, but it is one that has been used for a while. The real problem is adding the reporter. Just sloppy.

Why did someone have an anti Trump reporter in their phone? This wasn’t just carelessness. Imo

He's the editor in chief of a decent sized publication. He's probably in many of the admin's contacts.

Thanks. I agree. That's just not what was testified to. I watched the hearing and took notes, but I don't recall who said that.

EDIT: On second thought, it's possible that Waltz said it on Ingraham last night. I watched both.

RE: Trump admin includes reporter in group text planning air strike in Yemen.
The method they used was bonafide, it was authorized and what was texted didn't come close to divulging government secrets of a war plan at all. The big question is: If Republicans know that this Son of Satan from the Atlantic is a hater and would love to embarrass them why would they access those texts to him in the first place?

There has to have been a leaker, someone who included Goldberg for nefarious reasons. Did anyone notice that his whole name on the text wasn't included, it only had his initials which made it seem that that person was part of the Trump administration. This was done on purpose and they need to find out who it was and punished, because that is close to treasonous. What's to say that if it had had serious plans that Goldberg wouldn't divulge them to the enemy? They're evil enough to do it, the hate is that strong.

What mlb stated was right on and I agree 100%. We dodged a bullet this time and at least this brought to light the inadequacy of Signal. They need another method to talk governmentese, perhaps Elons geniuses can come up with a solution but the most important thing right now is finding the culprit who included Goldberg...ASAP.

The whole thing is irrelevant. Goldberg was apparently identified by "JG," which matched the official who was absent, meaning nobody knew it was Goldberg. Whether anybody else was IDed by initials doesn't matter.

And as I just edited above, it wasn't testimony, it was Waltz saying Goldberg's name was only IDed as JG in the chat, matching an official who should have been in the chat, but was not. And now verified by that additional released details.

Nice try, though.

So...if this could be so easily explained away as you claim, why can't this supposedly awesome administration seem to come anywhere close to providing a clear and concise statement addressing it as such? They've had basically two days now.

I think you know why.

I would be very surprised if the Trump team used personal phones. We do have the ability to talk classified on specific cell phones but they're not really used for messaging.

So...if this could be so easily explained away as you claim, why can't this supposedly awesome administration seem to come anywhere close to providing a clear and concise statement addressing it as such? They've had basically two days now.

I think you know why.

Just think, Tom, you have 4 more years of sky screaming to go. Should be fun.

Will be for me

Incompetence.

You are trying to find some conspiracy theory that can easily be explained by incompetence, negligence, and complacency.
