Do you REALLY not understand how the past few days protests and riots combined with MORE planned such events relates to my comment about 'fatigue' of leftist outrage??
So the mode of expressing fatigue at the 'outrage' is to preemptively conflate everything that is planned to automatic tallies of burned cars. Doesnt sound so smart to me. Which is *precisely* and *explicity* what he does. Among a number of really kneejerk and and thin automatic generalizations.
Yeah, how dare some note that mockingly.
Quote:Quote:Quote:which UNDENIABLY becomes cover for people to commit criminal acts with absolutely ZERO connection to what is being protested.
There is a huge difference between 'can become' and UNDENIABLY becomes, mind you.
Of course there is. Do you think these stores that were looted in LA over the past few days had something to do with the purpose of these protests? Or do you think they were just an excuse?
Rather immaterial when one's position
Quote:Quote:Quote:Trump is acting like a king, so I'm going to set fire to this random car. Trump is a bf guy, so I'm going to loot the convenience store.
And that is OOs thought process spelled out above. Which, for the vast massive part -- is simply bunk. And you seem to repeat the invariable false (for vast part) characterization above en gross.
false characterization??
bunk?
Please connect the dots to your claim.
Maybe you just don't understand the sarcasm. OF COURSE nobody is actually looting a store because Trump is acting like a king.... It's just an excuse for criminals to loot a store. That's the entire point.
Then I suggest you lecture OO, and not those who responded to those explicit comments and mocked them.
Quote:I'll try and explain it more clearly. Please don't 'attack' an attempt to reach understanding that might over or under-state reality.
Absolutely.
Quote:Far too often... leftists protests turn into riots and become 'catch-alls' for violence and theft. The riots (in part because they draw all the police, plus they draw all the media) become COVER for acts of violence and crimes UNRELATED to the protest like store lootings and as an example... burning LAPD cars in a protest over ICE.
[/quote]
I think that is a rather broad generalization.
Quote:Quote:I challenge you to show *any* sort of mainstream "nation-wide calls for and acts of looting and violence that you guys have now done BOTH TIMES Trump has been elected" that you so rhetorically complain about. Ham, thats a bull**** rhetorical comment you just made in that regard.
Both of you and your feigned outrage over 'rhetoric'.
Id prefer that you back up your statement above re: bolded. You *explicitly* noted "nation-wide calls for and acts of looting and violence that you guys have now done BOTH TIMES Trump has been elected". Please back that up instead of deflecting.
Quote:How about I say it more simply.
Absolutely.
Quote:Both times Trump won the election, there have been riots and looting across the country. Did ANY of that happen when Trump lost?
There absolutely was a riot when Trump lost. Not looting. But you have previously said you dont want to get into a 'metric' game about which is 'worse or larger'.
But ABSOLUTELY the right rioted when Trump lost. 100%.
Quote:And don't tell me 'Trump was worse than Biden' because NO MAGA Trumpers (those most likely to have protested Biden) would agree with you... and don't claim Jan 6, because that was a single, isolated event and not part of a pattern we saw echoed across the country.
Cool -- you ask literally "Did any of that [rioting] take place" when Trump lost. Then magically state 'except dont include the riot that happened when trump lost.' Neat deflection.
Next, I will have to say your initial question is very inartfully stated and asked.
"Both times Trump won the election, there have been riots and looting across the country." No -- neither time 'when Trump won the election' there were riots. A false premise right out of the bag.
The riots occurred under Trump's tenure, once when George Floyd was killed, and outrage over that boiled over. The second is kind of, but not at the point of -- maybe now. Again, not because of an election. Mainly because of the very real appearance of authoritarianism is this regime.
In both cases, the issues are over perceived violations of very tangible fundamental rights. Rightfully or wrongfully, the Floyd riots were sparked and maintained over ideas of racial injustice in policing. Not because 'Trump was elected' as you allude to above.
Wash rinse repeat for the current time. The issue at hand is multifold, in fact. The idea that the DHS and Trump think it proper to simply rendition folks is pretty sick at the very first. Stack on top of it a heavy hand in calling out the Nat Guard, and zip lining a flipping battalion of Marines to a US city tacks on to that. Again, not because 'Trump was elected' as you allude to above.
Quote:Here's the thing... NONE of that is directed at you personally. NOBODY suspects you participated in ANY of that... We're just doing a reality check and making sure you note the differences between how these awful Trump supporters act when they lose an election, and how these awful anti-trumpers act when they lose.
The Trump folks rioted when he lost, notwithstanding your attempts to whitewash that out of consideration. And they rioted *literally* because of his loss.
Anti-trumpers -- well you got all sorts of individual issues cleanly categorized in that broad catch all. Without regard to racial policing issues, nor with respect to the spectre of active military on the streets of a major US metropolitan area at what seems to be the drop of hat.
Quote:Quote:And for every shitbird lefty extremist that fits your broad as the galaxy "nation-wide calls for and acts of looting and violence" I hazard to guess I can find an equal number of dumb*** Proud Boys, Bugaloos, etc etc etc that called for an explicit overthrow of the governmental system on 1/6.
If you want to equate wack job extremists to wack job extremists -- go right ahead. Kind of equal on that level.
Great. If they are 'kind of equal' then you should be able to show me similar pictures of looted stores and burned cars and bricks thrown off of overpasses as a result of Jan 6, the truck convoys or any other 'Anti-Biden Policy' protest as what we see in LA or saw a few years ago.
Cool. Back to the 'define a riot by the numbers of fire and looters' I take it?
Quote:Quote:And quite honestly, the idea of 'judging size and scope' and/or temporal scope of violent acts of riot really becomes stupid after a while as an excuse mechanism as you attempt to do preemptively. Not to mention the idea that there has to be some integer non-zero number of fires to qualify as a riot, as I have seen promulgated.
You're deflecting and dodging.
Judging by your explicit reference right above to the same scope, that doesnt seem to be a deflect or dodge. I mean, you literally *just made* that argument directly above.
Quote:I just think it's hard to claim you went there to peacefully protest if you show up in riot gear. Obviously you had SOME expectation that it would turn violent.... and planned to resist it anyway.
So if there is any expectation of any force on any side, one should never show up?
If I go to the No King protest, damn fing straight I am taking personal protective measures. And again you repeat an absolutely false canard in the bolded.
One can have some expectation of force being used, and can take such measures to protect themselves with ZERO plan and ZERO intent to 'resist'. If I attend, I plan on exercising my given 1st amendment right, and plan on exercising what should be a right of planning to not get hurt. By any action. Apparently to you that is sign of some weird culpability of aiding a riot or something related thereto. I find that very empty.
Quote:Here... I see nothing wrong with peacefully protesting ICE.... at an ICE facility. I draw the line though when they start to try and impact field 'enforcement' actions. That's not a protest.... and it puts innocent lives in danger
I see nothing wrong with protesting anything, pretty much anywhere. Note the word 'protest'. And there are only a few places that I would draw the line at 'where'. Someti9mes the where is directly related to the word 'when'.
And I agree -- when they impact field actions, the authorities have the ability to declare an illegal assembly. Which is what happened for the most part as the most extreme action on either side -- which lasted until Trump drove the proverbial armored personnel carrier into the fray, against the wishes and advice of the local authoritites, and directly bypassing the Governor of the state in whole.
Trump should have known that his heavy handed move re: the NG would absolutely escalalte the hell out of the issue. And it did.
