Utah Valley, CBU off to Big West. Leaves WAC at 5
Utah Valley and Cal Baptist admission to the Big West will be voted on this Friday.

This leaves the WAC at 5 members.

Hard to imagine there's any D2 schools left willing to move up to the WAC that wouldn't have already. Can the Texas schools get back to the Southland? How fast can Tarleton get the CUSA invite? Are SUU and UTU going Summit? Following to Big West? Finding a way to still stick with UAC schools?

Lots of questions and things to see shake out. But despite the WAC's history of surviving, over and over and over, this seems to be the bleakest road forward compared to the past

Also, Southern Utah will an all time swing and miss in conference realignment history? Up there with Holy Cross rejecting the opportunity to be a founding member of the Big East? Someone needs to be held accountable for this blunder.

RE: Utah Valley, CBU off to Big West. Leaves WAC at 5
Tarleton, with all due respect to the D2 callup Texans, will have to make do with whatever situation they’re handed in D1-AA after the WAC finally dies as it should’ve over a decade ago.

Maybe that’s the Southland, where they can grow into a competitive FCS program in a strong league. Or maybe it’s the ASUN. I’m not sure.

Don’t hold your breath on Tarleton being invited to CUSA though. Nonstarter. The league has told them “no thanks” for years and is in no desperate need of a warm body (all TSU would be to CUSA). TSU, despite their lofty goals, are a down-list FBS expansion school. At best.

I just did, so clearly it’s not nearly as much of a “nonstarter” as Tarleton going FBS is.

TSU missed the bus. They couldn’t hoodwink and bamboozle their way into the FBS like they tricked the TX4 into leaving a stable, strong football conference for a trash callup league.

Maybe someday, years down the line, Tarleton will get another crack at it. Until then, you’re just another FCS school with big time pipe dreams that’ll likely never come true.

Congrats on your playoff win against non-scholarship Drake this year, by the way.

Or maybe just maybe the P4 pull away and leave everyone else including you Sammy H sitting on a park bench eating a greasy pork chop bologna sandwich covered in mayonnaise served up on a dirty ash tray.

In any event, a pecking order still exists. And my school assuredly belongs ahead of yours, as do others that you currently share a conference with

Not sure why I get involved in your nonsense, but here goes.

I will actually agree with Sam being ahead of us, but this changes in about three years. And I have no idea who you or why you think others in the WAC are ahead of us as there is no truth in this.

I don't what the future conference home for Tarleton will be, but I do know we'll always live rent free in Eatemups head.

I’m sure it is way too late to salvage the WAC, but there is the makings of a really good FCS conference in place.

On a Zoom meeting, if the attendees were Weber State, Northern Arizona, Central Oklahoma, SFA and Lamar, and they were given a tremendous sales pitch and at least four join the WAC, we now have a strong base. All five could join.

Now all of the WAC members would be competitive from an athletic budget and facilities standpoint. We would have 16 or 18 conference basketball games. 8 or 9 conference football games.

Tarleton
ACU
UTA
Utah Tech
Southern Utah
Northern Arizona
Weber State
UCO
Lamar

Let’s Go WAC!!!!!!!

Pure delusion. Do you even know how realignment works or do you pay attention to anything? SFA just paid money to leave the WAC last year and now they’re going to re-join it?

I do know how realignment works and your school sure does. Schools can come and go as they please, whatever they think is best for them. There is an institution located in San Antonio who I shall not name who agreed to join the WAC, but before they formally joined, back out because they decided staying down in the Southland was better for them. There is another school currently in the WAC who agreed to join the Big West but before formally joining the Big West, they changed their mind and have now announced they will be joining the Mountain West. Schools can move as they see fit.

I am not saying my idea will happen, I am just offering a last hope for saving the WAC.

Damning with faint hope.

It didn’t help when your rationale was supported by a school abandoning the WAC and another who backed out of an invitation to the WAC.

I just hope you’re chuckling with me this time. After all, there are many forces of nature ensuring the WAC dies in short order. It’s not worth the drama of pointing out delusion, anyway.

Oral Roberts?

Strangely enough Utah Valley has not accepted the Invite of the Big West. Was this a ploy to rid the conference of the outlier Cal Baptist who the Big West had reservations about?

Apparently there is interest in D1 schools joining the WAC. Who would have thought?

Geographically, it makes more sense for Denver and ORU to consider the WAC instead of making numerous trips to the wintry Dakotas in every sport.

There is no evidence that any D1 school is interested in leaving their stable conference to join the WAC. Thanks in large part to Tarleton St, who is ready to leave it at any moment.

There is no evidence that any D1 school is interested in leaving their stable conference to join the WAC. Thanks in large part to Tarleton St, who is ready to leave it at any moment.

There is also NO EVIDENCE that D1 schools like Oral Roberts and other MVC & Summit schools are not.

I know you are having an organism just waiting to see it fold but fact is there are a lot of positives for Midwest schools to join.
