Guys finally get another win in St. George 86-72. They were ahead all game and once again let UT make a decent run towards the end of the game. They held on though. Hopefully we get another one in Cedar City.

Interesting.
13 new players every year. No bigs. No success at all. Best basketball was when Gillispie was sidelined last year. He’s a great coach with skins on the wall, but it’s really difficult to defend his last few years. Last night in Seattle was the last straw for me. A bigger budget, new shiny arena, I don’t think it’s even a question to go in a different direction. I’m not a basketball guy, so maybe there’s something besides .500 basketball that I’m missing.
I like this team. I think they are way more athletic than years past, and I know there have been injuries, but they will all be gone next year, and we will start from scratch. Again. We need to keep some guys, build some chemistry, and win a little.
This may just be life as a low major now. A new coach may have the same exact problems and turnover, and we might still be .500, but we know what we’re gonna get next year, so what the heck, roll the dice!

I would keep Gillespie for at least one more year. He had the best recruiting class he has had at Tarleton. They were just injured. Move into the new facility and our budget will increase, so results need to massively improve. Also, his health will play a role in this decision.
When he was announced to return from his health issues last year, he was given a two year extension.
I say let him finish his contract out and see what happens.

Yeah I call bullsh*t on the injury thing. If it was just injuries he'd have to be the unluckiest coach in NCAA history. Year in and year out, these top recruits show up to Stephenville, go through about a week or two of BCG"s closed door practices, and they're all of the sudden "injured". I think they just don't want to play for him. His coaching style is old school, and his off court demeanor is obscure, to put it mildly. Look, kids these days have options, and they know how to work the system in their favor. They can play where they want and for whom they want. Joseph Jones is a former baller and a player's coach. The guys really responded well to his energy. He didn't just take over a winning team, he completely turned that team around. If I'm Hurley I'd be begging him for forgiveness, regardless if he comes back or not. It was wrong what we did to that man. He did nothing but overperform and we kicked him to the curb like some kind of chump. AND we turned around and gave BCG the raise and 2-year extension that JJ earned. Bad JUJU for sure. Perhaps Chris Beard wants to come back home?

I agree with you TexasFan injuries was a major factor this year. Let him ride out his contract atleast. He has earned a chance to oepen up the new areana. Hopefully Freddie can redshirt and we will be healthy all year. Barring a miracle run in the WAC ourney I have already written this year off as a loss. It is all about next year.

Men continue to finally play with some confidence and hitting shots. Their game with Southern Utah was never in doubt tonight. SU tried to make a little comeback while we went into a little bit of a drought for a couple of minutes, but they were never able to really begin to close the gap much. Final score was 84-70. Let's hope that confidence keeps going as WAC play rolls on.

It was great to see Hunter Jack back and firing. Two in a row! Maybe he is back in stride.
