Steamed over a reversal where it appeared our LB knocked the ball loose from their QB and we picked it up and ran for a TD. QB looked like he was going to pitch it forward but pulled it back in and it got knocked loose. Replay called it an incomplete pass.

Tough break. I'd love to see the replay.

Reaction from FCS Nation Radio...

RE: UAC FOOTBALL ***FCS PLAYOFFS ROUND #1***
Sorry to hear the EKU result. Officials can be maddening. But congrats on your season. -- NOTE: after studying the video several times, I must agree, you were robbed. EKU won that game. The QB's arm was not even pulled back to make a throw and it did not move in any kind of passing motion that most anyone would think. The ball was knocked out of his hand.

But I am astonished at the game ACU just played, winning 24-0. They absolutely stuffed Northern Arizona and the ACU Defense was awesome. Before the game it was announced our conference leading quarterback could not play due to concussion protocol, so we go with our backup and he was very good even with 3 interceptions. If he learns to dump the ball rather than throw into coverage, he could follow in the footsteps of McIvor as a great quarterback. Sam Hicks is the best running back I have seen in the WAC. He destroyed NAU. I was despondent hearing we would be without our quarterback but jubilant to watch our defense rise up and our offense play so well. It was fun... but North Dakota is a bit far to travel for the next game.

Good win by the Texans. It is always a challenge to beat the spread when you are favored as much as you were. UAC gets two teams to the next round and not too long ago we were wishing we could get two teams into the playoffs. The UAC probably had at least four teams that should have been in the playoff first round.

Congrats to Tarleton on your win. EKU, you got robbed. That needs taken straight to the NCAA. There is ZERO way that was an incomplete pass. ACU played bad refs all game. NAU held all game, no calls by the refs. Face mask by NAU, no call. Still, we shut them out.

Tarleton gets the win, but man, it sure was UGLY. I expected some jitters being our first playoff game since 2019, but we can't allow a non-scholly team to just come into our place and march up and down the field on us like that. Coach Nix coached a piss poor game and he better draw up some new schemes and get his guys amped for the Yotes' full-throttle offense next week. QB pressure/sack every once in a while would be great! If not it's gonna get out of hand in a hurry. SDU beat Drake 42-3 earlier this season.

I slowed it down and watched it several times.

Conclusion from my perspective which has no bearing nor weight about the final outcome was that the QB started to do a shovel pass but lost control and fumbled.

EKU definitely took that one on the chin. Sour grapes for sure.

I don’t believe one bad call should beat you though.

And if it does then you were just evenly and really no better than the competition you were playing.

It was two evenly matched teams. 8 point lead at that point would have changed momentum.

Man, that’s a tough way for players and fans to end the season. Definitely something there to build on next year if y’all can retain the core of the team. With this portal, every year feels like a new year.

Congratulations on EKU making the playoffs and completely shutting us down in the second half to win at Stephenville. Despite some of the noise you from TSU fans we have had a really good run for a long time. So, IMHO getting a W against us was a really good win.

Hey, there always next year as my American Legion Baseball Coach used to say.

I feel sorry for one of our WRs who caught what he thought was a game winning pass on the last play of the game but didn't realize his last couple of steps before catching that pass were on the endline in the back of the endzone.

sorry about EKU, that is a shame, Congrats to ACU on the Shutout. Tarleton's win was Ugly but a win none the less. I was shouting FIRE Whitten now when he went for 2 after the first TD and again when he went for one after the second one. Pure stupidity. The early 4th down call I agree he should have gone for it, but now run up the middle. Sigh, I think we are going to lose big next week. Whitten can not handle real competiton, he can barely get by a Pioneer league school for goodness sake.

Tarleton clearly had Drake outmanned, but Drake was clearly better prepared. That’s on Whitten.
Defensively, we can’t get to the quarterback. And we can’t stop the run.
We need some nasty mean Portal help. And/or need to look at making a Coordinator change. We have been a bad defense for a while.
South Dakota, and South Dakota State next September are gonna show just how far we still have to go.
I’ve given up on complaining about the offense. Whitten will never let that go unless he is let go. And that will not happen because he wins 8 or 9 games a year. There’s no pressure on him. Nobody really cares. Just look at the crowd Saturday. A rabid fanbase would have shown up. Or, shown up better for sure.
