Not sure why this turned into a UC hackles up discussion since it's in the coaching carousel thread. UC wouldn't have paid $6 million annually to hire anyone on a 1st time contract here, anyways.

He's a smart move for a school that was losing 15-20% of season ticket renewals year over year the past 3 years even before they went 1-11 this year. Master stroke of a business decision. We will see how it goes on the field. My sneaking suspicion is he may get them from 1 win to bowl eligible PDQ just on the basis of talent infusion.

This is the exact mentality that will have us shaking our head looking back in 3-4 years. Didn't pre-emptively overwhelm Fickel with $$ to stay, didn't spend the big bucks to get Deion. Now we're stuck with a middling coach that may not be able to recruit at the levels for UC to compete in the BIG12.

The guys he recruited just kicked the living sh!t out of the guys Fickell recruited.
