Bolded, that's probably true. Although I watched Bearcat Insider last night and Dan Hoard commented that if excessive penalties aren't reigned in it might take a loss to get the attention of some players and Tony Pike seemed to agree. Specifically, I think of defensive penalties such as late hits out of bounds, taunting, unsportsmanlike conduct, etc.. Some like those nearly cost UC the lead on SMU's final drive.
