Notre Dame's best chance to make it a game was in the 8th inning. A solo hr, then they had runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out. But they hit into an innimg ending double play and only scored the one run

Yeah, IIRC the TAMU manager made a timely pitching change, bringing in their closer when ND had that runners on and nobody out situation.

He got the first batter he faced to strike out swinging, then the next to ground in to that double play, extinguishing ND's last fire.

Helluva season for the Irish, though.
