Yes, anyone who gets their paycheck from a college athletics department should prefer the bowls-and-polls method. Half the teams ended the year with a bowl game. So in any given year, at 1/4 of teams in CFB could end the year on a high note and claim a successful year, practically guaranteeing that anyone who wanted to keep their job could stick around.

Nowadays, it seems like all the extra money in the system is being funneled into buyouts of bad head coaching hires. Which, oddly enough, doesn't make the head coaches happy either.
