I mean, it's a free country - he's welcome to say that. Baseball used to say the same thing to ballplayers - "prove that you're worth the money and I'll pay it".

I guess in Saban's shoes, where Alabama is the odds-on favorite to be in the playoffs every year, he doesn't have to pay for talent. And the top 3 or 4 schools just don't. But if I were some school looking to crack the top 5, and had plenty of NIL money available, I'd grab those guys in a heartbeat, because the best team in the country told them to pound sand.
