The WAC may have been grandfathered in as a FBS conference. But with the schools they have right now IA is far from even a pipe dream. The biggest athletic budget in the new WAC (not New Mexico State) is Sam Houston State at 19.2 million dollars. Only ULM at 16.7 has a lower athletic budget in IA.

I doubt any of us ever sees the WAC as a IA conference again.
