Somebody predicts this every offseason. Meanwhile he keeps turning away suitors left and right. He likes his AD. He likes his university. He likes the community. Maybe ND or OSU opens up some day, but until then, most UC fans feel pretty damn good about keeping Fickell.

Rumor is USC has already offered

You are still in the 2014 phase of Houston. Herman turned down every major offer after our top 10 season ny6 year and signed an extension

We lost him to Texas in 2015 despite a 5million a year offer from Houston.. 3x higher than any G5 in history.. Herman publicly swore he was here in houston to stay, and everyone noted he loved Houston and turned down major job offers the year before

Funny aside is how similar Tom Herman and fickells g5 career have been who were OC and DC for the same national title team

If we're pointing out similarities, we may as well point out differences.

Herman was a GA at Texas, spent a majority of his coaching career in that state, and got an offer from the major flagship in that state. He had no attachment to the Houston area outside of his 2 years with that team, and even then, he was asked to move down the road, not clear across the country. Was on the downswing (Houston performed worse in year 2 than year one, and did even worse when he left...so the getting was good).

Fickell has spent all by 2 months of his nearly 50 years on planet Earth in the state of Ohio. His wife has spent all of her life in Ohio. Fickell has worked at 3 schools total (one for less than a year), all in Ohio. Fickell has 6 children in varying levels of schooling in one of the most robust Catholic educational communities in the country (they are both devout Catholics) as well as one son with the UC Football team and has a wife who is on record saying they aren't moving the kids again. He has turned down interviews with West Virginia, Auburn, Tennessee, and Illinois, and turned down job offers at Florida State and Michigan State. Do I think there is a chance he leaves for USC? Sure...but I think the list is maybe 5 schools long at most, and more likely it's 2 (Ohio State and Notre Dame).
