Make sure you do your best with the next hire. Don't rush it because of the portal. Start planning for two years from now. Not next year. This will probably not be a quick fix.

People just want to keep ignoring it for some reason, but I’m telling you guys, the issue with Brannen wasn’t the one bad season. Both the large majority of the fan base and the admin were far more concerned with the major personnel and cultural issues that existed in the program. You can’t coach a team to success without a future. He had zero recruits and lost his entire freshman class after one year. There’s no future there.

There’s a lot of hand wringing here for a guy that put himself in this situation. UC didn’t do a great job handling it, but he simply isn’t ready to lead a program above the low major level unless he can figure out how to not run everyone off around him. Given the way the players felt they were treated, UC took that opportunity to get rid of a toxic personality. I can’t say I blame them for that part.
