Working with the Southland Conference, TMG’s rebranding will include the following:
Brand strategy, including vision, mission, positioning, values and brand personality
A new name for the conference and its sub-brands and properties
A new logo that is uniting and inspirational
Brand voice and brand line
An updated design system for all touchpoints throughout the ecosystem

My first reaction is that this is very dumb and a waste of money. But then I keyed on one phrase in the press release--"student athlete experience".

I'm a 48 year old man. I'm not a 17 year old kid being recruited to play college sports. So if a different name will attract 17 year old athletes, it's the right move to make. Even if it sounds very stupid in 10 years.

"CONFERENCE XTREME will be rebranding at the end of the 2003-04 school year to a less stupid name. CONFERENCE XTREME was known as the Central Athletic Conference until 1996"
