To add to that, Kiper had Sauce going 12 to the Vikings in his first Mock as well. No other Bearcats, but mention of Ridder as being an alternative at QB for the Steelers, Lions, or Saints.

Yeah, the Cotton Bowl probably didn't help Rid's draft stock but Mel really softened his prior salivation over his potential as the first QB taken. I thought he might have a shot as a late first rounder but he can still help himself with a solid Pro Day workout and the combine.

I'm a bad talent evaluator. But I think the Cotton Bowl was good for Des.

He faced a defensive line that was on him before he even got to a 5-step drop, and knocked down 4 of his short passes. And his wide receivers dropped 3-4 passes. None of that is his fault, so why would NFL teams penalize him for it?

On the plus side, he was very accurate. I didn't see one inaccurate throw. He was 17/32, which is really more like 17/24 (71%) after you subtract dropped passes and deflections by d-linemen.

He threw zero interceptions.

He ran four times on RPOs and designed runs, and looked good doing it. Gained 32 yards (8 yards per carry).

All this against a defense that's projected to lose 5-6 guys to the NFL this year.
