The WAC restarting football would present an option that hasn't existed in some time. Assuming they aspire to FBS, and it is an assumption, then the WAC is a better vehicle.

I think to the issue of climate...Flagstaff isn't far from Southern CA so it makes sense they've gotten some players. But would they get more if their games stretched from CA to TX rather than CA to MT?

Their last stadium upgrades resulted in a loss of capacity. I don't buy the FBS angle with NAU, but I can buy wanting to be in a better fit for FCS.

yes - Skydome now sits 10K. They replaced the bleachers that officially gave about 20" of seat room with chairback seats.

NAU would have to build a new stadium to go FBS, and unless I win the lottery multiple times, that isn't happening.

Not sure if a bunch of small towns in Texas that most have to look up to spell correctly is really hitting prime Texas recruiting.

Stephensville - Population 21,000
Nacogdoches - Population 32,000
Huntsville - Population 38,000
Abilene - Population 117,000
Beaumont - Population 117,000

As has been pointed out. Stephenville is not far from Fort Worth. And, Huntsville is not far from Houston. Both towns are essentially in the larger media markets of DFW and Houston. Beaumont is in prime recruiting territory of Southeast Texas.

Stephensville is still an hour from the edge of the Metroplex Huntsville 45 min from the edge of the Houston Metro - still not close.

NAU gets California recruits in part because NAU is as close or closer than any other FCS schollie school besides Cal Poly,

While NAU does get some Texas recruits, I doubt just because NAU or SUU would play a game or two in Texas would be that much of a draw.
