Nothing. They aren't going to get significant time during conference play, so why not use this time to continue to teach the guys who are going to play?

Because it usually comes down to the bench at the end of the season. Injuries, foul trouble, back to back to back games take a toll on the starters.

I totally disagree. 8 guys in the rotation is plenty.

6-7 is enough really.

That's a pretty weak statement considering ODU lost 3 starters mid season just last year. The bench had to go way deeper than just players 6 and 7. As Blaine said many times during his tenure at ODU ... if you want to have depth, you have to develop depth.

Other schools that ODU has competed against for years play freshmen against ODU and win their share of the contest, in some cases more than their share. Do they just recruit better freshmen than ODU? Are they coached better? Both?
