I think the counter argument is that traditional WASP's have 'adopted' other ethnic groups (Irish, Jewish, Asian) into the white mono-culture while blacks and Hispanics, remain outside. It's an asinine argument, but the it advances the goal on keeping the focus primarily on blacks/whites.
