Moon Township, Pa. – Robert Morris University announced today it will no longer field NCAA Division I men's and women's ice hockey teams as part of a series of strategic initiatives intended to position the university to be amongst the most agile and professionally focused schools in the nation as it prepares for its upcoming 100th anniversary.

In reading this release and the FAQs it's clear to me that they have no idea that they are not compliant with D1 policy. They also keep saying they have 15 sports when there are only 14 non-hockey sports listed. Now; unless they are adding a men's sport but it has not been announced yet, you can disregard my comments. This reminds me of when Chicago State first started talking about dropping baseball.
I see 6-basketball, soccer, lacrosse, golf, cross country and football. I would think they would have been better off dropping football. And with no men's track, cross country has no chance to be competitive.

I missed the announcement made in October 2020 that men's cross country was returning to RMU for the 2021 season. At the time of my previous post in May, that sport was not included on the menu of men's sports. Since I was not aware of the full story, just disregard all comments in that post. My error.

It happens. No worries.
