Fever is not a standard symptom for everyone therefore temp checks don't work to stem the spread of the virus. The lack of a centralized and mass response to this pandemic is why we are where we are. This is too big for micro level interventions only. Intervention needs to be on both the macro and micro level. At least the governors are doing something rather than passing the buck to the mayors of cities and towns. And you can blame all the loco's that can't stop playing pickup basketball and keep gathering on the beaches for the lock downs. If people would stay home then a lock down would not be needed.

Actually just the opposite. The fact that nobody is obeying the orders means it is time to open up, not shut down. After all, this is a representative democracy, not a dictatorship. People are not stupid. They have the information and can decide what they want to believe. I guarantee you if this was the black death or ebola nobody would be going anywhere. People make tradeoffs. This is a slippery slope. Will you still support tyranny when they start shooting people onsite when they leave home like they did in China?

A chorus of medical experts and government officials have recommended social distancing and shown their work as to why it's needed but sure, let's let a bunch of beachgoers dictate our coronavirus response.

When did anyone get a say? Distancing works, nobody is arguing that. I could ban automobiles and save millions of lives... but we don't do that because the constitutional process allows the people to decide and they say not worth the trade-off. What people disagree with is it being worth the trade-off and where in the constitution does it give the government the power to overturn freedom of association and assembly.
