I'm not advocating anything. We've already screwed the pooch and there is nothing we can do about it right now. The A10 is full and are no longer interested, the stadium is built, coaching contracts are signed. We keep throwing good money after bad and going deeper and deeper into the Ponzi scheme. And FCS is a lot cheaper. Fewer scholarships, everyone was content with the stadium, Bobby Wilder and his salary was ample to compete at the highest level, and less travel by a large magnitude. Football will get rid of itself eventually. The lawyers and left wing political hacks will make sure of it. The concussion problem isn't the flavor of the day or front and center right now, but it will be back. It is a dying sport and as fewer and fewer play it, there will be fewer and fewer that play it at high levels, meaning the gap between the haves and have nots will continue to grow at an accelerated rate. We are already much, much closer to FCS than we are to P5.

Who is the one getting ripped off for this "Ponzi" scheme? Are the fans not getting the tickets they paid for? Are the players not getting the education they work hard for? Who is getting screwed?

Bump. Because I'm honestly intrigued how a football program could be considered a "Ponzi" scheme.

The Athletic Department became a Ponzi Scheme because it takes an ever increasing amount of outside investment to be solvent. Wood Selig also raises money on fake pretenses. Did he ever return any of the waterfront stadium money?

First of all, that's not what a Ponzi scheme is and it's not even close to being in the same ballpark.

And even if it was (it is not), how is ODU any different than any other program in the country? Apart from the military academies and the cartel, all are reliant on student fees. That includes the members of the A10.

VCUs $34.2 million budget in 2017 was subsidized by $19.9 million in student fees. That's 58% of their budget. (https://richmondbizsense.com/2019/03/18/...our-run/).

And when was a waterfront stadium fundraising campaign ever started? Oh right, that never happened.

They talked about it, studied it and found out it was cost prohibitive. They then moved on to the current stadium plan. It's a standard process for capital projects. And you know that.
