Leaving the SEC was a terrible move for both Tulane and GT. It makes me wonder if the SEC CCG might have began sooner as they would have 12 members already without the addition of Arkansas and SC.

Why was it a bad move for Tulane? Were they ever going to get better in football in that league? From 1950-1965 when they threw in the towel they won a total of 20 SEC games (out of 102). In their last nine years in the league they won a total of 6 SEC games. They were outclassed and they were probably always going to be outclassed.

Maybe they've made bad decisions since then, but there was nothing bad about their decision to leave.
