Will he ever really compete for a national championship if he goes to any of the 30ish schools in the bottom half of the P5 he still doesn’t have a realistic shot at competing for a title.

Only 10 teams have competed in the CFP in 5 years. Only 15 played in the BCS Championship in the 15 years before that.

Only 19 teams in the last 25 years.

I want to agree.

But how many of those 19 teams are from the G5? That is the problem.

Are the other 70% of P5 teams really that much closer to playing for a title than we are? There are plenty of reasons for Norvell or other coaches to take P5 jobs. I’m just not sure a chance to play for a national title is as legit a reason as most of us believe it is.
