The 2019 Official Fire Coach Wilder Thread. Anniversary Edition.
It's not about what works. It's about the probability of success vs probability of epic fail (turning the ball over). The longer distance you try to throw the higher chance of a turnover and lower chance of a first down. So when they are running it on 3rd and long they aren't necessarily looking for a first down (though there's still a chance), they are lowering the risk of a turnover with giving the team a chance for a fourth down play depending on the circumstances.

Not to mention our strength so far seems to be running the ball. Our WRs seem to be pretty good at blocking from what I could tell.
