lol, wut? UConn is jumping into a football abyss with a smile on their face all to benefit mens/womens hoops...that's not something schools like Cincy, Houston, UCF, Memphis, Temple, USF, etc are willing to do.

Its like people don't understand the uniqueness of this situation. UConn isn't running off to join a P5 conference. They're making a lateral move into a nearby regional basketball conference that they have historical ties to. Their willingness to make this move says more about UConn's financial situation then it does about the AAC. They're admins have basically read the writing on the wall and concluded that their FBS football experiment is failed, so they're pulling the plug. Overall I can understand the motives and logic behind the move and it's probably the best thing for UConn in the short run, but it in the long run it almost guarantees they'll never be invited into the ACC (which is where they really want to be and probably should be).

This is a fantastic post, but I don’t think your analysis of their football is altogether true. If they go the BE and build their brand back up and can get into the mac or go indy and compete at a winning level and sustain it, I could see the ACC taking a flyer on them. They would be very similar to say Duke or Kansas in the Big 12-2. Theyd be okay. They dont have a bunch of time though.
