Based on that, if the AAC were in the position where an all-sports team needed to be added, I think UAB is the choice.

RE: Rank the open AAC Candidates from CUSA - herdfan129 - 06-23-2019 07:45 PM

These averages do not include UCONN since they are leaving the conference.

Football- 29,128

Basketball- 6,329

With that in mind I have a hard time believing they will take anyone who doesn't average at least 20k/game in football and 5k/game in basketball.

Assuming BYU says no, Army says no to Football Only, and no other MWC teams decide to join....that leaves their options as....

CUSA

Marshall- 24,063/football ; 6,065/basketball

ODU- 19,633/football ; 6,620/basketball

MAC

Toledo- 21,352/football ; 4,771/basketball

Sun Belt

None

No one else even comes close to meeting those requirements.

What made you rank MTSU, UTEP, and WKU ahead of Marshall in terms of market?

Huntington-Charleston media market is bigger than all 3 of theirs. Please don't try to add MTSU in with Nashville.

1. Southern Miss

MTSU is in the Nashville market. If you're going to lump Huntington and Charleston together then you need to also add MTSU in Nashville considering Nashville's actually closer to Murfreesboro then Huntington is to Charleston.

Further, I'm looking at this with a completely unbiased view.

Obviously, I would love to have Marshall in the conversation, but I'm looking at things objectively,

If I wanted someone that would win football games, I'd go:
1) Southern Miss
2) Marshall
3) Louisiana Tech
4) North Texas

If I wanted to continue whatever the phuck it is the AAC has been doing, most of which I don't understand, I'd go:
1) FIU (enrollment, recruiting, market,academics)
2) UAB (academics, market)
3) North Texas (market, academics, music department, actual football)
4) Rice (academics, makes as much sense as Tulsa)
5) Charlotte (market, academics, makes as much sense as Tulane)
6) Old Dominion (budget, recruiting)

Middle Tennessee state is in the Nashville market. If you're going to lump Huntington and Charleston together then you need to also add MTSU in Nashville considering Nashville's actually closer to Murfreesboro then Huntington is to Charleston.

You're right. I just looked. Murfreesboro is included in the Nashville market.

Huntington-Charleston is ranked #70

El Paso #85

Bowling Green, KY #181

Tell me again who those two are ranked ahead of us?

RE: Rank the open AAC Candidates from CUSA - THUNDERStruck73 - 06-23-2019 07:59 PM

My guess would be:

1. BYU/Army (not happening)
2. Stay at 11 for a couple of years and see if any cream rises to the top, then move.

Murfreesboro is most certainly in the Nashville MSA.

Yeah, I don't know it's close. We're all kinda splitting hairs down at the bottom.

If the AAC wants a market, none of us are an option.

I have to believe they want more than just a market, however.

RE: Rank the open AAC Candidates from CUSA - THUNDERStruck73 - 06-23-2019 08:04 PM

I will defer this question to Louisiana Tech and Marshall.
