But, if you're going to compare San Marcos statistics to Cal State campuses with D-I athletics, take a look at San Marcos vs. Bakersfield, who has been in D-I for several years and will soon be joining the Big West:

San Marcos enrollment: about 13,100
Bakersfield enrollment: about 9,300

San Marcos endowment: $24.1 million
Bakersfield endowment: $23.9 million

San Marcos annual university budget: about $90 million
Bakersfield annual university budget: about $75 million


Again, I'm certainly not suggesting that San Marcos should launch D-I athletics any time soon.
