My knee jerk reaction to the news was exactly the same as most posters -- a year too early. However, if FTH is correct, I'm cool with it. Lester is young and continues to recruit really well. He made a change on the defensive side of the ball when it was warranted.

Nobody has a crystal ball to tell us if he will lead us to the our next MAC title but he damn near got us there this year -- despite the big losses to Ohio and Toledo. Plus, imo, Ohio probably should have won the MAC this year -- they may have the lone MAC bowl win so far. I hope we can pull one more out in Boise tomorrow.

A crystal ball is not needed to assess coaching performance, or the likelihood of future success. It is always done based on past performance. I don't know what makes anyone think Lester will do better in the future. He has given us no indication he is going to change philosophy, culture, or the way he does things in general. He is not evolving, or at least he hasn't over the first two years, nor has he given us any indication that he is anything but satisfied with how the team is doing.
