I would rather they schedule DII teams (they don't count in the metrics) than schedule 300 RPI (NET, Whatever) DI teams that do count. But we do need some sort of scheduling rules. ODU may well have to scrap the UMES games and schedule more pay-for-play road games with P5s. If the NET is the game, we need to play by it's rules.

So let me throw this out there: Most if not all of us wish the CUSA schools that schedule multiple non-D1 programs would cut it out already (and once a year we get into a fight over it on the CUSA board). But playing devil's advocate, what if ODU replaced its low-major tomato cans with D2 and D3s? If the system still gives you more benefit (or less damage) by scheduling a non-D1 compared to a bad-NET D1, would it make more sense to replace Morgan State and Fairfield with Virginia State and Virginia Wesleyan? At least the latter don't hurt you, even if the worse came to pass and you lost.

It wouldn't hurt our NET. However, it won't do much for optics or fans support.

Unless it is Norfolk State or Hampton, there isn't any fan support at those games anyway. I doubt Virginia State would draw any less than Morgan State or Fairfield.

Might even get better crowds for Virginia Wesleyan, Elizabeth City State or Christopher Newport, since they'd have their own fans and alumni who might not go to many home games but would go see them play ODU.
