I don't think for a lot of reasons Tarleton is an option. Their best bet is a WAC return to FBS.

I meant a transition phase as in they're not really a full D1 FCS member yet, like they're still ineligible for the FCS playoffs.

This is where my mind went, too, but, what was the road map for programs without football, or other D2’s skipping FCS for FBS?

I’m wondering if for Tarleton, yes, the move will happen, and there will be space available, but, they “owe” some time in WAC, and can’t handle all the financials up front on sudden exits, and any added probationary time (itself a recruiting hindrance). Or potentially damaging relationships with other schools.
