The rankings are based on the product. The Sentinel's rankings don't matter, but then the Athlons and other "don't matter" either.

Good publicity is better than bad, but you have to back it up with performance. What this team has done in light of the university's financial situation and image problems is nothing short of amazing.

I would agree that Athlon’s rankings don’t matter either.

People are only looking for their teams rankings in the list and then forgetting about the rest. It’s only good publicity if people remember where NIU is ranked, which they won’t.

I’d put them In that 65-60. That’s pretty much the middle of the pack. There’s 45-50 G5’s worse than NIU and maybe 15 or so P5s.

On paper I think it's an 85 to 100 type team. I think people are underestimating how hard it will be for this team to score points given drop off in playmakers and a coaching staff not comfortable with big offensive plays. If not for the defense this would be a 110 to 120 team. This defense is going to get very very worn down though and NIU alcan only be in MAC west contention if the defense can survive massive OOC injury and if the offense can ar least move the chains a few times

This bullsh*t narrative you have regarding NIU football is continuously proven wrong each and every year. When will it stop?
