You're better than that, I thought. It is never used to describe a human being. Its obscenely offensive. Its at least as bad as the N-word. Do you really want to be seen as someone that crude.
Besides, isn't it simple courtesy to not knowing insult people? How would you feel if you had a Trans kid and people were calling your child "it", or "shim" or "sHe"? Look, there are people in here who, at least online, are really awful people who deliberately seek to be mean to people. I don't think that you're that person. Or if you had a tomboy daughter and someone deliberately misgenders her as him just to make fun of her? What you're doing is little different, I'm afraid. I would hope that's not your intent.
Besides, is it that hard to simply address people how they'd like to be addressed?

I think it is simple intelligence not to take offense when you behave in ways which makes other people uncomfortable and they express their discomfort. I actually have gay, lesbian, and yes trans friends. You don't coach women's rugby without that happening a lot. My policy is that your sexuality is none of my business, and your job is to ensure that it doesn't become my business. I once had a #4 and #5, who have to bind together in the scrum, who were dating each other and broke up in mid-season. That was awkward, but they got through it for the team. I have a former fullback who moved to California transition to male, and we are still Facebook friends. I also have a gay male friend who would probably like to transition, but doesn't have the money. I have gay and lesbian friends who think both are weird and have no qualms about saying so.

I don't deliberately seek to be mean to anyone, and I think you know that. But I also think you have to recognize that some of what you advocate is way beyond the norms that have been accepted by society for centuries, and not everybody is going to rush to adopt everything that you insist upon. You're expecting millennia of social trends to reverse themselves on a dime, and the world does not work that way.

I've said it before, and I'll repeat it here. You appear to look at everything though one incredibly narrow prism. There are plenty of people out here willing to be open and accepting of your lifestyle choice, but not ready to change the English language to accommodate your every whim. You need to step back, try to see how the world looks from their point of view, and revisit the issues with more depth to your understanding.

There are lots of people perfectly willing to be accepting and understanding, but not if you insist on pissing us off at every opportunity.

Just know if you refer to a Transperson as "it", that carries a real possibility that people will not take that well. They might not say anything, but they'll note it. I say this to you, because I think you'd actually possibly care if you're offending people. There are increasing numbers of people, who are increasingly aware of issues of misgendering.

And does that language actually contribute to the conversation?

Your choice either way. Is that hard to refer to someone in they manner they wish to be addressed?

Hope that helps.
