Bwahahahaha. Made for TV fiction from day one suckers.

The whole country gets to enjoy an all SEC championship.

Suck it up buttercups. This is the exact product of a rigged system.

Alabama beating Clemson and Georgia beating Oklahoma were rigged?

I think what the enemy of man (Kipling's understanding of Shere Kahn) is trying to say, is that it is rigged for corporate America's agenda. Disney via ESPN gets to select 4 schools every year (if you want to screw somebody just get a committee of personalities called by the media as above reproach to do it) that hype their ratings. The G5 are mostly excluded because of lack of following. With 4 great national draws and an occasional change of face to make it seem fair and give it more color the ratings roll in and so do the advertising dollars.

It's a lot like Corporate America's control of Congress and the White House. Make it a two horse race (Dems vs Reps) throw the stupid masses the irrelevant bone of the day (gender issues, abortion, gun rights, pro flag anti flag, etc,) to stir them up and make them vote, and then give equal amounts to both candidates and voila, you control the means of power because Congress and the President appoint the Supreme Court.

And nobody in the country protests the real villain, corporate interest. Why? Now that private business is all but dead here due to corporate perks and tax breaks, the public can't bite the hand that feeds them because most of the public either works for government which the corporations control, or they work for the corporations, or their kids do.

So it will be Alabama/Georgia/Florida/Auburn/LSU, Ohio State/Michigan, Florida State/Clemson, Texas/Oklahoma, or USC/Washington pretty much every year with some minor variations. Just like the NCAA tournament uses seeding to justify giving the top basketball draws the easiest path to the Sweet 16. Only there everybody watches the first two rounds to see if one of the Blue Bloods gets knocked off. But that tournament covers three weeks so an upset or two doesn't really affect the Sweet 16 which guarantees pretty much 3 national draws in the final four every year.

Football is too compact to risk upsets so they set it up this way and let the venerated names of the world put their stamp on it.

My issue with the G5 posters here is that most of them are too blind with anger and envy to see that the P5 has nothing to do with this. Like them we take their cash to do what they say. So save your piss and vinegar for the Mouse and leave us out of it. We are just better paid hired hands than you are, but we are still hired hands on Mickey's Plantation.

It would be nice to have a system with less of the "eyeball test." Perhaps 8 teams with the P5 champs and top G5 champ. But the reality is that any of the top 25 would cruise past 9 of UCF's foes. They played only played 4 teams who were truly capable of beating them. UCF beat Memphis twice, who lost in the Liberty Bowl to Iowa St. who finished 7th in the Big 12, but was good enough to beat both Oklahoma and TCU. UCF beat USF, who in their bowl squeaked by Texas Tech who finished 8th in the Big 12. And they beat a good Auburn team who really wanted to be somewhere else.

The problem with the eyeball test is teams have no real control over 8 or 9 games on the schedule. UCF can’t just say we will play an ACC schedule.
The other four games they are still limited by the willingness of other teams to play them.
If a G5 isn’t located in a recruiting hot bed finding willing opponents is even more challenging.
The schedule difference really warrants a larger field because there is no party independent of the school imposing schedules.
