The Scouts is a place where a boy can learn a lot about citizenship, responsibility, good manners, environmentalism (not the hippy progressive version) and other skills. Putting girls in this world will only lead to distraction. Yes, there are already women who are Den Leaders, but Den Leaders vs. peers your own age is something completely different.

If a girl wants to learn to do all these things she should just join the Girl Scouts or some similar type of group.

Girl Scouts is terrible, at least when my daughter was in it and my locality. They were interested in selling cookies, glitter art, hair, cooking, makeup, and political correctness. Odd mix.

My daughter was interested in camping, riding, hiking, learning to build a fire, animals, camping, etc.

The Boy Scout program would have been perfect for her.

But putting girls into the Boy Scouts will change it from being the Boy Scouts. The girls will not get the current Boy Scout experience...because it will be different. The only thing it does is to stop boys from getting the current Boy Scout experience too. They will now have a different vibe and culture. I am also sure that over time programs will be changed to be more girl friendly and add more girl-centric awards, merit badges, and achievement tracks.

Taking over the Girl Scouts and mirroring the Boy Scout philosophy would have been a better idea IMO.
