This conclusion ties in with my earlier assertion that this recruiting season is an absolute disaster. Furthermore, 4 of the 6 who did sign played for private schools. As others on this board have pointed out repeatedly, the private school players tend not to be of the same talent level as those from public schools. UVA’s Campbell Award winner Micah Kiser played at the private Gilman school in Baltimore, just one example

Just as a point of comparison- Stanford signed 10 during early signing, 4 from private schools. Rice has to find diamonds in the rough, and some of those are likely to be at small town public schools, or private schools, not at the 6A school with 20 D1 prospects.
