Don't have any commits yet, but I was just looking at our offer list on 247Sports and thought I'd start a thread... These aren't all of the guys to which we have outstanding offers, but the ones I thought were particularly intriguing.
Aaron Allen, Dual Threat QB, Ridge Point... Bailiff's neighborhood... Other Offers: Cornell, ULM, UNM, UNT, UNLV, McNeese
Josh Jynes, OG, DeSoto... Always need to be recruiting "DeSoto U"... Other Offers: Colorado, UTSA, UAPB, Jackson St.
Alex Jacobs, RB, Cy Ridge... We've taken lots of guys from here lately, and need to take some RBs this class... Other Offers: None
Marquese Albert, RB, John Curtis (LA)... NO OFFER, visited earlier this week... Would really like to see us recruit LA more. So many good players and we only have one on our roster (Houston Robert)... Other Offers: South Alabama
Jake Spytak, OT, The Woodlands... Seemed excited about his offer on Twitter... Other Offers: Army, Tulsa, SMU, UNT, Most Ivy League schools

We've recruited at least one other kid from Ridge Point. I'll have to dig around and get the name. Allen is a longshot for Rice.

If they are related, it doesn't appear to be close:
John's parents are Johnnie G. Syptak (Jr.) & Shirley. His Syptak grandparents are Johnnie G. Syptak, Sr. & Vlasta Hermina Macat Syptak.
Jake's parents are Greg and Cristina. I believe his grandparents may be Gary Syptak & Judy, and his great-grandparents Elo & Mary Lednicky Syptak.
There doesn't appear to be a connection between these Syptak generations.

Adam Coleman retweeted this morning that Rice in the final 10 for one of the top 10 tight ends in the country - Malcolm Epps of Dekaney High School. He's 6-5 1/2, 218. His top 10 schools are Rice, UT, A&M, Alabama, Florida State, Florida, Ohio State, UCLA, Michigan and Georgia. Apparently he's pretty good friends with Aaron Cephus (who is also from Dekaney). Seems to be a real longshot but it's pretty cool to see Rice in the final 10 on that list.

Yes, UCLA is in the pacific time zone, and the other 9 schools are all in the east or central time zones.

Thought I'd mention something I just saw on twitter: a 2018 OL recruit from Houston just committed to UVA. He had other offers from Princeton, Yale, Brown, SMU, Vandy, and a couple others. Somehow he didn't have a Rice offer. I feel like that's the kid we need to be getting. Obviously there could've been extraneous circumstances, but letting a high academic kid from Houston leave w/o an offer seems like a problem.
