and am not going to investigate further.... but it says The IRS and your tax professional cannot disclose your tax information to anyone else without your explicit consent.

If you find out that the IRS or your tax preparer has disclosed your tax information without your consent, you may bring a civil lawsuit for damages. The IRS has steep penalties against tax preparers who disclose tax return information without your permission.

So unless Donald explicitly released the information, I'd say his attorney is spot on.

Well, of course the person who sent it to DCJ committed a crime. But neither DCJ nor Maddow did. And they don't have to disclose their source either...assuming they even know and DCJ says he does not. There is well established case law on this. Unless you can show that one of them solicited the return with a promise of "payment" they broke no laws.
