VCU fans need lives. It's embarrassing (not to mention an NCAA violation) to tweet at a 17-year-old kid.

That's what I thought.

This is a pretty gray area, as if anything else involving NCAA regulations could be considered cut-and-dried. I know that last year, the NCAA loosened its rules about social media in recruiting by allowing coaches to like or retweet comments from athletes because, in their words, "it is difficult to monitor all coaches and their social media activities." And if it's difficult to monitor coaches' activities, then trying to keep fans, boosters and randos in check is like trying to herd 10 million cats. I think at this point, the only way you get in trouble with fans recruiting through social media is if the NCAA can prove that it's a planned effort headed up by the athletic department.

In regards to Wade (or anyone else), might I suggest the adage "if you can't beat them, tweet with them."
