Averaging a little over 1.5 shots per game is hardly the definition of shooting a lot. Had he (Fields) shot any less he essentially would not have shot at all.

He shot the ball over 18% of the possessions he played. For a point guard that shot at a low percentage.

And he was 20% of the personnel on the court in the possessions he played. When it has fit your stance you have claimed that the sample size was too small to make a firm judgement. Well, his sample size of 45 shots is small.
