Basically yes. If a kid is being recruited by P5's, it's probably best to keep any offers as quiet as possible. One reason is simply one of perception. Our fans (self included) , get sick of hearing about our failures. It's bad publicity and doesn't serve the program well. Jump you know good and well we're never going to land a 6'11 kid who is already drawing interest from ACC schools. Why even talk about it? I'd prefer to hear about kids we have an actual shot at. You don't see Wilder offering pipe dreams and that helps keep fans expectations realistic. Some of our fans actually think we might land one of these kids and are disappointed when we don't. One of Jones' problems is he makes a million stupid offers and thus begins to look like a loser.
