The idea of going after guys simply because they're from our own back yard isn't something I'm for. Sure, it would be great to get some talent from our state, but at the end of the day I don't really care where they're from as long as they have talent and drive. Thompson, Bond, and Toney are all from different parts of the country...and that's completely fine with me.

Out of curiosity how many div1 offers did Steele have before giving us
verbal?

Steele is fascinating for several reasons:

1). He is from Naz's JUCO.

2). The assistant coach now at that JUCO is none other than John Bowler, fmr. EMU center. For those who don't know Bowler, he played with absolute grit, intensity, and smarts. All-MAC. John should know MAC basketball (esp. big man ball) as well as anyone. I hope we now have a lot of connections and knowledge of what is happening in Iowa (other than BobW. Lol.) for JUCOs and D-I talent (e.g., transfers).

3). Steele is a big man. There is a premium on big men.

I assume the staff thinks they have another Naz.

Yeah I get all that but answer the question, who else offered him?
