An interesting question here is the extent to which four games stretches it beyond the breaking point for more players than three games, leading to the top four going into the CFP bracket with not only a bye, but also with more of the talent that brought them into the CFP bracket than some of the first round schools.

Time will indeed tell, which is another reason to be dubious about confident predictions about what happens after the next CFP contract.
