It isn't a head scratcher, he was more or less the coach in waiting. IF there was a great candidate available, I'm sure we would have hired him, there wasn't, so the admin stuck with the plan.

We wouldn't know because we didn't follow the same search approach.

IIRC, I believe they said there was a national search done. I'm sure it wasn't nearly as extensive as the two done for Fuente and Norvell though.

Don't know who "they" are but the natl search firm we had used to find Fuente & Norvell was not used to find Norvell's successor.
